In San Antonio Texas , on June 5, 1984, my mother gave birth to me after 18 hours of labor. I came in at a whopping 9 pounds 2 ounces, covered in hair, with a cone head. So right from the start, I was making an impression.

My childhood was fabulous, consisting of trips to the pond to feed the ducks, strapped on the back of my dad’s bicycle seat, intense video game warfare with my mother, who is the biggest gamer I know (owning every game system since Atari) and outdoor fort building adventures with the neighborhood boys. The majority of my time, however, was spent privately fine tuning my imagination, morphing from an anal shopkeeper, to an abandoned princess, to the owner of an obnoxious, pesky dragon that never listened. The life of an only child…

Before I outgrew my onesies, I was putting on shows for whoever would watch. I sang, despite my lack of ability in the vocal department (which I blame on genetics), danced, and converted cartoon theme songs into dramatic monologues. In between busting moves atop the raised fireplace I called my stage, I’d dabble in improv, impressing my viewers with on the spot dramatizations, often about ice cream after dinner or threats of being punished.

My childhood shows were cute and for the most part amusing, however, it was my breakout role as Elvis in our family's annual Father's Day show in which I won my entire family over and they became Official Laura Killian Fans. So in essence, I've already won. However, as difficult as it may be, I fully intend on topping myself. ;)

I took my first theatre class in 7th grade and was immediately hooked. Throughout high school, I competed against other schools in solo and duet acting, winning numerous medals. My junior and senior year, I competed in UIL One Act competition, winning All Star Cast both years. My directors, Scott and Carla Schumann, Peter Sullivan, and Cindy McDonald, truly fueled my passion for acting. Some of my greatest and most intense moments on stage happened at the Judson Performing Arts Center.

I went to The University of Texas at Austin in 2002, beginning as a Theatre major. I decided early on that I wanted to get into film and familiarize myself ‘behind the camera’ as well as in front. I was accepted into the Radio-Television-Film program where I took a variety of classes, including producing, image and sound, and advanced screenwriting. I graduated in 2005 with High Honors. While learning the ropes behind the scenes, I honed my acting skills by taking a variety of classes around town. Once I found Marco Perella, the search was over; I found my teacher. He introduced me to the world of film acting in all its glory. Over the course of a year, his profound teachings solidified my desire to pursue a career in acting.

In the late summer of 2006, I packed my Corolla full to the brim, and set off for sunny California. Twenty-one hours later, with a stop midway for a pint of corona, a waffle from Waffle House, and a night’s rest, I arrived!
